Frequently asked questions

What does the course cover?

Our course runs over 4 sessions around 2.5 hours, during which you will learn about how the body and the hormones it produces are perfectly designed to facilitate a safe birth of your baby. We will help you to learn how to bring yourself into a state of deep relaxation which will help your mind and body work optimally and calmly during pregnancy and labour. We run through signs of labour, the steps of labour and birth, breech babies, natural induction and birth preferences. We also empower birth partners with an invaluable role in helping the mother prepare for birth and to be their protector during labour. We cover the early days after the birth of your baby in an optional fifth session (which has an additional fee). During this session you will learn: what to expect from your midwives and health visitors and also about feeding, nappy changing and sleep. The fee includes a copy of our excellent sleep guide.

When should I do the course?

We are happy to work with any pregnant ladies, the earlier the better so you can learn and practice the skills for a calm pregnancy and birth. We would recommend that the sessions are attended between 20 to 34 weeks. If you are already in your 3rd trimester we would still love to work with you and can offer an accelerated course. If you are earlier than 14 weeks pregnant, please do get in touch and we can discuss the best time for you to start. If you book in advance we can provide you with the HypnoBirthing book and relaxation MP3s so you can be well prepared before the sessions begin.

Group sessions are held in our homes in Oxfordshire, near to Blenheim Palace. On booking we will send you full details. We also offer 1:1 sessions which can either be held at your home or you can come to us, your choice. We are happy to travel around Oxfordshire, Cotswolds, Buckinghamshire and Warwickshire. If you live more than 5 miles from us we reserve the right to charge a fee for travel (based on 45p per additional mile). During the Covid-19 pandemic all courses are offered via video conferencing.

We offer an optional 5th session covering your baby's early days which costs £40 and includes a copy of our sleep guide.

The optional session covers a relaxation session together with practical tips on the early days with your baby and a copy of our amazing sleep guide.

What about during Covid-19 lockdown?

The relaxation skills you develop during our course are more vital than ever during these uncertain times, we are therefore offering Zoom HypnoBirthing classes during the lockdown (and if you don't feel comfortable travelling or having visitors in the weeks and months after lockdown is lifted). We are offering a discount of 20% on these courses.

When are the courses?

Our group sessions are held on four consecutive Tuesday or Thursday evenings between 6:30pm and 9pm. Abigail runs courses on a Tuesday evening and George on a Thursday evening. Our 1:1 sessions are flexible and can be arranged at convenient times and dates for you. When booking you can request to book at a time and date convenient for you and we will do our best to accommodate that. After you have booked we will arrange a call to discuss and arrange the remaining sessions. Session timing may be dependent on how far away you are. If you are 34 weeks or later we can offer an accelerated course, so please do contact us to discuss.

Can my birth partner come along?

Yes! We absolutely encourage that birth partners attend with you and practice with you, as the course is designed to empower them with a vital role during childbirth. They are so important during pregnancy and labour. Our course cost covers two attendees; however, this is not a requirement. Your birth partner may be baby's dad, a family member or a friend. If you are engaging a doula or midwife and would like them involved then please let us know and we can make arrangements to involve them.
